Thankful For Burgers

Dec 5, 2020 | Food & Drink

After reading last month`s pizza Spooktacular, I decided to look for what I enjoy the most and that is a great hamburger. I have toured all over the area, and to my great surprise, Shimane is quickly becoming a burger paradise.

ODA

It doesn`t matter if you are by the sea or on the mountain you are close to a great burger in Oda. I often ride through the beautiful country area of both Izumo and Oda on my way to Mt. Sanbe. It is a great ride and I am always ready to eat a Sanbe burger. It is a nice big burger with all the toppings. You are able to add bacon or egg if you so please. All the ingredients being local helps add to the savory taste.

I also had the chance to drive along the ocean and found another great place called, Stay & Café Wamoto. I was pleasantly surprised when asked if I would like the double or triple patty. I choose the double and it was more than enough. The great flavor along with the juices flowing out made each bite a heavenly experience. Take out is also available, during a nice day you are able to sit next to the sea and have a great picnic.

Izumo

Living in Izumo allows me the time to try several places that have good burgers. Taste Brookyln Dinning is known for a great menu and the Taste Burger does not disappoint.  A nice thick burger with cheese and fresh vegetables will satisfy any size of hunger you may have. Located close to Izumo station it is an easy walk or drive for any person passing through. Also, if you are having a late night in Izumo,  Saideira bar, located in daikancho area,  is a great place to have a burger before heading home. Hand made with care it is a work of art at your table.

Okuizumo

If you are in the Okuizumo area, than Picco is the place to stop. It is a great little family restaurant with pizza, spaghetti, and best of all was the Pico Pico burger. The locally grown tomatoes that they use to make their sauce really sets it apart from the other hamburgers on this list. The milkshake set that I ordered was something back from the 1950`s.  I suggest you take a friend and have them order the Shimane beef spicy burger as well. Both are well worth the drive to the area.

 Matsue

Located directly next to Mefu Shrine, Love Your Neighbor is a bar/restaurant serving gourmet hamburgers and craft beer.  Stepping into this shop, the first thing you notice is the small size.  With only counter seating for about four or five people, you’ll be lucky to get a chair; giving this restaurant a sense of exclusivity to its diners.  The hamburgers and side dishes here are quality, using select ingredients, the owner truly puts the “Love” into his restaurant’s name.  Their Original Burger features a 100% beef patty, onions, lettuce, and a slice of orange.  The orange slice is a unique touch by the owner that people say works really well with the hamburger.  Be sure to check out the selection of craft beers which changes regularly as can be seen by the decorative bottles adorning the outside.  Please be aware that the shop is open mainly at night from 6:30pm to 1:00am.
